Large events are a different challenge from a dinner party. You need consistent food quality across a big volume, proper packaging that holds heat during transport and setup, and enough variety to cover a diverse guest list. Jai Ho’s event catering in Turramurra handles all of it — from community events and fundraisers to cultural celebrations and school functions.

Events We Cater

Community events and cultural festivals that need food for 50, 100, or 200+ people. Charity fundraisers and gala dinners where the food needs to match the occasion. School and sports club events — end-of-season presentations, trivia nights, fundraising dinners. Religious and cultural celebrations including Diwali, Eid, Navratri, and community pujas. Large family events that outgrow a home kitchen — family reunions, milestone celebrations, or gatherings where three generations sit down together. We can scale our catering to feed groups of any size while maintaining the same quality and authenticity as our restaurant menu.

How Large Event Catering Works

Contact us with your event details — date, location, estimated guest count, and any dietary requirements. We’ll put together a menu that works for your group and a quote that works for your budget. On the day, everything is prepared fresh in our Turramurra kitchen and packed in bulk foil trays and sealed containers for pickup. Each dish is labelled with its name and dietary information. We can advise on quantities — after 15 years of catering for events, we know exactly how much butter chicken you need for 80 people. We can also advise on serving setup, how to keep food at the right temperature, and the best order to lay out dishes for a buffet-style service.

Popular Event Menus

For large events, we typically recommend a mix of dishes that offers variety while keeping the logistics manageable. A popular configuration for a 50-person event might include: samosa and chicken tikka platters for starters, butter chicken, lamb rogan josh, and chana masala as mains, garlic naan and plain naan, chicken biryani, steamed rice, raita, and papadum. For vegetarian-heavy events, we can adjust the balance — adding palak paneer, dal makhani, vegetable biryani, and paneer tikka starters. Everything is served in bulk trays that are easy to set out on a buffet table. We pack serving spoons with every tray.

Dietary Requirements at Scale

Catering for large groups means catering for a wide range of dietary needs. Our menu is naturally well-suited to this. We include vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options in every event catering order as standard — no one is left out. Vegetarian options include dal makhani, palak paneer, chana masala, aloo gobi, and vegetable biryani. Vegan options include chana masala, aloo gobi, baingan bharta, and mixed vegetable curry. Most of our curries, rice, and tandoori items are naturally gluten-free. Every dish in your order is clearly labelled so guests can serve themselves with confidence. For events with specific allergy requirements (nut-free, dairy-free), let us know in advance and we’ll adjust the menu accordingly.

Planning Large Event Catering

For events of 50+ guests, we recommend placing your order at least one week in advance. This gives our kitchen time to plan ingredients and preparation schedules to ensure everything is fresh on the day. For community events and festivals serving 100+ guests, contact us 2–3 weeks ahead so we can discuss logistics, staggered preparation, and serving arrangements. We'll advise on how many serving stations to set up based on your guest count — generally one station per 40–50 guests keeps the flow moving. Our bulk trays serve approximately 8–10 portions each, so for 80 guests you'd need 8–10 trays of mains plus corresponding quantities of rice, bread, and starters. We pack serving spoons with every tray and can include plates, napkins, and cutlery on request. Pickup is from 1257 Pacific Highway, Turramurra. For very large orders, we recommend bringing a vehicle with adequate boot space — or making two trips if needed. We'll help load your car.
