Freshly Baked Indian Breads in Turramurra — From Our Tandoor to Your Table
Indian bread from a clay tandoor is a completely different experience from anything you’ll get from a conventional oven. The intense heat blisters the dough in seconds. The edges crisp while the centre stays soft and pillowy. And when it arrives at your table 30 seconds after it’s pulled from the oven, the aroma alone is worth the visit. At Jai Ho in Turramurra, every bread is baked to order — not reheated, not pre-made, and not microwaved.
What Makes Tandoor-Baked Bread Different?
A tandoor reaches temperatures that conventional ovens can’t match. The dough is slapped onto the inside wall of the clay oven and bakes in a matter of seconds — creating the signature blistered surface, the slight char, and the soft, stretchy interior. It’s the same method that’s been used for centuries in North India, and it produces bread that’s nothing like the pre-packaged naan you find in supermarkets.
The freshness matters too. Our naan is baked when you order it, not pulled from a warming drawer where it’s been sitting for 20 minutes. The difference is obvious from the first tear.
What to Expect
Our bread menu includes garlic naan (our most popular — soft naan brushed with garlic butter), Peshawari naan (stuffed with ground nuts, coconut, and raisins — slightly sweet, perfect with creamy curries), plain naan, roti (whole wheat flatbread — lighter and thinner), and paratha (layered and flaky).
Every bread is baked fresh in our clay tandoor. If you’re sharing curries at the table, ordering a mix of breads is the best way to go — garlic naan for the adults, plain naan or roti for the kids, Peshawari for anyone who likes a sweeter pairing with their curry.
Breads are available at every dinner service and at weekend lunch. They’re also included in our function banquet packages.
Fresh Indian Bread on the North Shore
Tandoor-baked bread is one of those things you don’t realise you’ve been missing until you try the real thing. Many of our regulars from Turramurra, Pymble, Killara, Wahroonga, Gordon, St Ives, and Lindfield say our garlic naan is the best on the North Shore — and they order it every visit. It’s also one of the first things mentioned in our Google reviews.
